Member Investment Choice
Choosing the right investment option(s) for your retirement goals is extremely important – especially if your super is going to be your major source of retirement income.
SPEC Super offers you the choice of six investment options, each with different / risk return profiles:
Diversified options
- Balanced
- Capital Stable
- Growth (High Risk)
Single Asset Class options
- Cash Enhanced
- Australian Shares
- International Shares
If you do not select an option, your super will be invested in the default investment option, the balanced option.
For further information about the investment options offered through SPEC Super and recent investment returns please refer to the Member Investment Choice information.
Investment Switching
Investment switching is easy.
New members can elect their chosen investment options on their Member Application Form when joining SPEC Super.
Existing members who wish to switch out of their existing investment option can do so by completing a Member Investment Choice Form and returning it to SPEC Super.
Investment switches will be effective from the first calendar day of the month after your completed Member Investment Choice Form is received. Your existing account balance and future contributions will then be invested in the way you have specified.
SPEC Super members are entitled to one free investment switch each financial year. Any additional investment switches will incur a $50 fee.
Fund Managers
The Trustee aims to achieve the investment objectives of the Fund via a strategy that invests the assets of the Fund via set asset allocation ranges.
Fund managers are appointed that actively vary the asset allocation of funds under management within the Fund’s overall asset allocation ranges. The performance of each Fund manager used is continually monitored and evaluated by SPEC Super, and the Trustee will regularly monitor the overall asset allocation of the Fund.
For a listing of SPEC Super Fund Managers at 30 June 2008, please refer to the 2007/08 Annual Report.
How is interest allocated to your account?
The Trustee will declare a monthly interest rate for each investment option, (net of all investment fees and expenses, as well as tax). These rates may be positive or negative, depending on investment performance. At the end of the financial year, these rates will be compounded and allocated to your account.
Interim interest rates will also be set each month for each investment option. These rates will be applied to members exiting the Fund, for that period where declared monthly rates have not yet been finalised. Interim rates may be updated during each month, depending on market movements.
Further details on the allocation of interest are available in the Product Disclosure Statement.
